THUSC U11-U14 COMPETITIVE PROGRAM
The continuation of the foundations built in the THUSC Junior Academy Program, our U11-U14 Competitive Program offers the serious soccer player the opportunity to continue to advance their skills and understanding of the game as a year-round player. Our primary goal in working with players in these age groups is continuing to develop and build upon the individual player's technical development and proficiency in a number of skills, and bringing in additional tactical understanding in team play, and crucially, continuing to build the player's love and enjoyment of the game as a player and spectator.
At these specific ages, we aim to minimize focus on team outcomes, choosing to prepare our players for future success by focusing on the individual outcomes within their control contributing to team success.
U11-U14 Competitive 12-month Program Includes:
- Professional Coaches, both for team and specialty training
- Fall and Spring Leagues
- Participation in either OYSA State Cup, OYSA President's Cup or Founder's Cup (one OYSA tournament per team)
- Tournament participation: Teams are expected to play in 2-3 local or travel tournaments throughout the year. These tournaments are hand-selected by the team's coaching staff.
NOTE: Tournament expenses for players and coaches (entrance fee, travel, room/board, team activities) are not covered by Program Fees (see below) and are estimated and collected per team by team treasurers.

What does a U11-U14 Competitive (year-round) team's schedule look like?
A typical year in our club is designed with periodization in mind to maximize individual improvement along with team success.
- May: Tryouts for all age groups
- End of May: Unity Days for U9-U14 teams, followed by Jog-a-thon fundraiser
- May through August: Team trainings and tournament participation (local and/or travel-varies by team)
- September through November: Continued team trainings | OYSA Fall League | OYSA President's or Founder's Cup
- December through February: Winter training schedule (combination of Technical Performance and team training)
NOTE: Teams will enter a futsal league, but this is not part of club fees—it is an additional cost per player, collected by team. - March through early May: Continued team training schedule | OYSA Spring League | State Cup for Premier level teams
When are scheduled club-wide breaks?
THUSC generally follows Beaverton School District's calendar for club breaks during the school year. Coaches are given some discretion to change this schedule on a team-by-team basis. If a team needs to prepare for an upcoming competition or tournament, coaches may decide to train during a club-wide break.
- Memorial Day
- July 4th - typically the full week is off
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving - full week off or possibly Wed-Fri
- Winter Break - follows BSD schedule (training break, but futsal league overlaps)
- Spring Break - follows BSD schedule
