Technical Training

Technical Training for Competitive teams is provided as part of the Competitive Player Program fees. Technical Training will take place once a week along side normally scheduled Competitive team training sessions to ensure players are getting quality technical training along with team tactics. Sessions will run for 6-8 weeks throughout the season depending on tournament and season schedules. Technical sessions will focus on coordination, foot work, ball work, accuracy, as well as integrate some fitness aspects.

Technical Training FAQs

WHY DO I NEED TO REGISTER EVERY WEEK?
We want to provide the best quality product possible to THUSC members. It is impossible to plan for fun, well structured and challenging training sessions with no data on who (or how many) will be there to participate.

WHY IS THERE ARE $20 PENALY FOR REGISTERING AFTER THE THURSDAY 5:00 PM DEADLINE?
THUSC admin and coaches need adequate time to plan sessions and schedule appropriate instructors for the sessions. We're hoping THUSC members will quickly get in the habit of registering early and weekly to avoid incurring the $20 penalty and causing damage to the quality of the sessions provided.

WHY ARE SESSIONS LIMITED TO 50 PLAYERS EACH?
Again, in order to provide the best possible product, we can't have 12 players at the first session and then 75 at the next one. Both the players and coaches benefit if the sessions are capped at 50 players.

WHAT IF THE SESSION I PREFER IS FULL?
Register early to get the session you want! But if your first choice is full, please choose the next available session.  

WHEN CAN I REGISTER FOR THE NEXT SESSION?
Registration will open every Sunday morning at 12:01 AM for the following Friday.

WHY WILL PLAYER ATTENDANCE BE TAKEN?
Consistent attendance is key to the success of the program, but also critical for player and team development. Coaches will receive attendance records for their teams. Generally teams with many/most players attending Technical Training progress in their development at a faster pace than teams of players who do not attend. If you are not attending, you actually are letting yourself and your teammates down. Technical Training can help you maximize your potential as a player and help you be a more technically capable teammate. Coaches may use player attendance at Technical Training data to help them make decisions about playing time.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I REGISTERED FOR A SESSION, BUT CAN'T MAKE IT?
Just like school or the physician's office, you will need to notify the coaching staff you cannot make it to your scheduled session. Please email [email protected] ahead of time requesting an excused absence. Players with unexcused absences, or fail to notify coaching staff before their session start time will be charged a $20 penalty fee on their www.thusc.org account.

WHAT IF I DON'T REGISTER AHEAD AND JUST DROP MY CHILD OFF?
If the session is full, your child will not be allowed to participate. If there is space, we can add them in. You will be charged the $20 penalty for late registration. 

CAN U15 FALL PLAYERS PARTICIPATE?
Yes, if you are a 2005/U15 player who is participating in fall training and league play with your team, you are welcome at Technical Training!

CAN SELECT PLAYERS OR PLAYERS FROM OUTSIDE THE CLUB PARTICIPATE?
Yes, we are now offering a package of 5 weekly sessions for Select players. Fridays 7:00-8:00 pm at Mt. View Champions Park. The cost is $50. Please scroll down to register your Select player! Non-THUSC players can also attend this session - just be sure to register before the deadline!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO TECHNICAL TRAINING?
It is a THUSC training session, so wear your THUSC training kit. Black shorts and socks, and grey jersey.

HOW EARLY SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR MY SESSION?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your session. Be completely ready to step onto the field and begin training at the scheduled start time. 


HOW WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF A CANCELATION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER REASON?
Please review THUSC's Training Cancellation & Inclement Weather Policy We will use the club email system (BlueSombrero) to notify members about cancelations. Please make sure you have "THUSC (Tualatin Hills United Soccer Club) " set as a "safe sender" in your email program. We are not responsible for messages not making it to members who have "opted out" of receiving THUSC emails!

Goalkeeping

Goalkeeping training is offered on a weekly basis with our Director of Goalkeeping.

The training emphasis for players includes a high level of technical proficiency in footwork and handling, as well as pushing the goalkeepers to be more actively involved with their backline, increasing their competency and confidence in their ability to play with their feet.
